General Information
Federal and state regulations require that a student be enrolled in
courses leading to a degree, diploma or certificate of at least 16 credit
hours in order to be eligible for
financial assistance. Therefore, students who are enrolled or who expect to
enroll in courses but are not admitted as degree-seeking students generally
do not qualify for any federal or state financial assistance.
For student financial aid assistance, the following requirements
apply:
- Be a US citizen or eligible non-citizen.
- Be enrolled or accepted for enrollment in a degree or diploma seeking program
with OCTC.
- Maintain satisfactory academic progress in your course of study.
- Not be in default on a federal loan or owe a refund on a grant
received for attendance at any post secondary institution.
- Males age 18 to 26, must be registered with selective service.

Sources of Financial
Aid
There are four general types of student financial aid programs: grants,
loans, part-time employment, and scholarships. There are also special
programs for those that qualify. Generally, all financial aid need is
determined via the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
This application can be picked up in our office, local high school
guidance offices, or completed
online.

If you need help completing your FAFSA online, please call the FA
office, 686-4520 to schedule an appointment.
