Graduation

Owensboro Community and Technical College celebrates commencement just once a year – every May. Even if you complete your requirements in the summer or the fall, you can still participate in the spring commencement.

To participate, you must graduate. To graduate, you must apply!

Commencement 2011

Commencement this year will take place on Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. at the RiverPark Center. Graduates - please plan to arrive at the RiverPark Center by 6:00 p.m. that evening.

Practice will be held on Monday, May 9, 2011 at 3:30 p.m. This session is designed to give you important information concerning your commencement. Your participation in practice will be greatly appreciated.

If you plan to participate in Commencement, you will need to purchase your cap and gown from the Owensboro Community & Technical College Bookstore on the main campus before April 29th, 2011. The Bookstore hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Friday. Cost of purchasing a cap, gown, and tassel is $31.98 plus tax. Cash or check is acceptable.

The next set of days to apply for credentials will be February 2 through 11, 2011 for Spring Graduation.

When do I apply for graduation?

Near the beginning of the semester in which you plan to graduate. These dates are published on our schedule of classes web site each semester.

The next set of days to apply for credentials will be June 14 through 18,2010 for Summer Graduation , and September 8 through 15, 2010 for Fall Graduation

How do I apply for graduation?

Complete the necessary program requirements and fill out an Academic Plan (approved course of study) with your advisor.
Contact your advisor and update your academic plan. The academic plan will need to be dated within specific timeframes for each semester of graduation:
Spring Graduation – Must be dated after October 1^stSummer Graduation – Must be dated after March 1^st
Fall Graduation – Must be dated after April 1^st
Submit your updated Academic Plan to the Student Records Office, allowing twenty minutes to fill out the required paper work.
