Owensboro Community & Technical College Associate Degree Nursing Program (ADN) prepares students to provide competent and knowledgeable care within the nursing discipline. The ADN (RN) program prepares graduates to sit for the NCLEX-RN examination in order to become a Registered Nurse.
For those students who are Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) wishing to become RNs, OCTC offers the LPN-RN program option.
OCTC accepted a Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) class for the Fall 2011 semester. Upon graduation of this cohort in December 2012, OCTC will no longer offer the LPN program.
Owensboro Community and Technical College is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) and the ADN/ LPN-RN program are fully approved by the Kentucky Board of Nursing.
Once accepted into the ADN Program, students can earn an Associate in Applied Science in Nursing Degree (AAS) in two years (4 semesters) if full time status is maintained.
An LPN entering the ADN program can earn an AAS in a year and a half (3 semesters) if full time status is maintained.
Acceptance into the nursing programs is based upon selective admission criteria. For more information on admission preferences click on either the RN or the LPN-RN links.
