Associate of Arts/Associate of Science

If you're seeking a bachelor's degree, you can begin your education at a community college, then transfer to any public university in the state -- with the guarantee that all credits taken in compliance with the Transfer Framework Agreement will transfer toward your program.

A 60 credit hour framework has been designed by a partnership of the Council on Postsecondary Education (CPE), the universities, and KCTCS colleges for nearly 200 different bachelor’s degree programs (majors) offered in the state. Each framework is different – representing a specific guide to the exact courses a student needs to successfully complete to reach his or her junior year in a specific major in a four-year baccalaureate program.  By following the guidelines outlined in the framework, you can complete the first two years of college without committing to a particular four-year university.

With advance planning, you can avoid having to repeat a course with similar content and can save both time and money.  Visit the Council on Postsecondary Education’s web site at for more information.

Associate of Arts/Associate of Science

The Associate of Arts/Associate of Science Degrees are a great way that you can begin your education at OCTC and then transfer to any public university in the state to earn a Bachelor’s degree. The Kentucky General Education Transfer policy guarantees that if you complete an AA or AS degree at a KCTCS college, any Kentucky public university will accept your gen ed credits as meeting lower-division general education requirements. The gen ed requirements covered in this policy may not meet requirements for specific majors. Check with the faculty and staff at the college or university you choose to attend for more complete information. With advance planning, you can complete the first two years of college without committing to a particular four-year university—and save time and money.
