Cosmetology

This program will prepare you for an exciting career in cosmetology. A state-wide KCTCS curriculum will provide you with the knowledge needed in all areas of theory, hair, nails, and skin care. Our cosmetology program stays current with skills and techniques used in today’s salon environment, making our students the top recruits by future employers.

Certificates

  • Cosmetologist:  54 credit hours
  • Apprentice Cosmetology:  39 credit hours
  • Nail Technician:  26 credit hours
  • Esthetician:  42 credit hours

Diploma

  • Cosmetologist:  60-63 credit hours

Admission Requirements

This program has no special admission requirements.

Employment Opportunities

Upon completion of the program, you'll take a written and practical exam administered by the Kentucky State Board of Hairdressers & Cosmetologists for an apprentice license. The licensee will serve a six month apprenticeship after which you will be eligible to take the master exam which is administered by Kentucky State Board of Hairdressers & Cosmetologists to become a licensed Cosmetologist.

Length of Program

You can earn an associate of applied science degree in two years if you maintain full-time status.
