Criminal Justice

The Criminal Justice program at Owensboro Community and Technical College prepares you for entry into the field of police work and related occupations. Criminal justice careers have evolved from jobs with minimal requirements to jobs requiring complex knowledge and skills. The curriculum covers theory, principles, and techniques employed by criminal justice agencies and police units. Other areas of study include the law as it relates to criminal justice agencies, human behavior, government, and communications along with specialized course work. 

Available Credentials

Associate in Applied Science (AAS)

  • Law Enforcement: 60-61 credit hours

Employment Opportunities

Upon graduation from the AAS in Criminal Justice program, you can seek job opportunities on the federal, state, county, and municipal levels.  With experience, you can move into administrative or supervisory positions in corrections, security and/or law enforcement.

This program has no special admission requirements.

Length of Program

You can earn an associate of applied science degree in two years if you maintain full-time status.
