Culinary Arts

A chef is more than just a good cook: a chef is an artist, an organizer, a manager, and a leader. In a word, a chef is a professional.  Professional culinary training can open doors to a world of exciting opportunities in the growing culinary and hospitality industries. The Culinary Arts program at OCTC offers a comprehensive culinary program that will prepare you for a wide range of culinary careers. Whether you are a newcomer to the kitchen or an old pro, our program will teach you all aspects of food preparation, presentation and management. If you love to cook, you owe it to yourself to learn more.

As courses are offered in a rotating sequence, you are encouraged to take all culinary courses offered for which you are eligible. A new rotation begins every fall and we would be happy to have you join us.

  • Fundamentals of Culinary Arts:  16 credit hours
  • Catering:  16 credit hours
  • Culinary Arts:  33-36 credit hours
  • Advanced Culinary Arts:  44-47 credit hours
  • Food and Beverage Management:  31-34 credit hours
  • Advanced Food and Beverage Management:  48-49 credit hours

Diploma

  • Culinary Arts:  50-53 credit hours
  • Food and Beverage Management:  54-58 credit hours
  • Catering and Personal Chef: 56-60 credit hours

Admission Requirements

This program has no special admission requirements.

Length of Program

You can earn an associate of applied science degree in two years if you maintain full-time status.
