Education

Owensboro Community and Technical College's Education Program (AAS) is designed to prepare you for employment in Kentucky classrooms. The program includes several levels. The Certificate Program is designed to prepare you for entry-level positions and to successfully complete the Kentucky Paraeducator Assessment or Kentucky Department of Education approved alternative assessment.  The Associate in Applied Science Degree (AAS) offers two options: one for those wishing only a two-year degree and another for those wishing to enter a university teacher education program.

Available Credentials

Associate in Applied Science (AAS)

  • Teacher Associate Option:  63-72 credit hours 
    Teacher Preparation Option:  61-66 credit hours

Certificate

  • Paraeducator:  15-18 credit hours

Admission Requirements

This program has no special admission requirements.

Length of Program

You can earn an associate of applied science degree in two years if you maintain full-time status.
