  • CIS 100 - Introduction to Computers - the impact of computers on society, and ethical issues are presented.  Students use a microcomputer and application software, including word processing, database, spreadsheet, presentation, and the Internet, to prepare elementary documents and reports.  Lecture: 3 hours. Prereq: Basic keyboarding skills recommended.
     

  • CIS 110 - Operating Systems Concepts - A conceptual and practical overview of operating systems is covered.  Topics include preparing disk(s); creating, displaying, copying, and deleting files and directories; using text editors, graphical user interfaces, and memory management.  Hands-on experience with hardware/software is provided.  Lectures: 3 hours. Prereq: CIS 100 or consent of instructor

  • CIS 120 - Program Design & Development - The design & development of computer programs for solving common business-oriented problems are covered.  The emphasis is on programming concepts and techniques common to all languages.  A programming language will be used to illustrate and practice these concepts.  Lecture: 3 hours.  Prereq: CIS 100, MAH 080 or MA 108 or MAH 083, or consent of instructor
     

  • CIS 130 - Microcomputer Applications - Students use a microcomputer and current word processing, database, spreadsheet, and presentation software.  The requirement, capabilities, limitation, and applications of these software packages are included.  Lecture: 3 hours. Prereq: CIS 100 or consent of instructor

  • CIS 148 - Visual Basic I - This course is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills to code, execute, and document comprehensive programs in Visual Basic.  Lecture: 2 hours, Lab: 2hours. Prereq: CIS 120 or consent of instructor
     

  • CIS 149 - Java Programming I - Introductory course to object oriented programming in Java.  Students learn to write, compile, test, and debug basic applets and applications that use a graphical user interface.  Lecture: 2 hours, Laboratory: 2 hours. Prereq: CIS 120 or consent of instructor

  • CIS 220 - Systems Analysis and Design - Methodologies for developing business-oriented computer information systems are covered, including; the definition of needs, creation of specifications, and implementation of systems.  Modern systems analysis and software tools are covered.  Lecture: 3 hours.  Prereq: ENG 102 or concurrent, and CIS 120, Programming Language level 1 recommended.
     

  • CIS 230 - Advanced Microcomputer Applications - Students use advanced functions of current software packages (word processing, spreadsheets, database management, presentation). Prereq: CIS 130 or consent of instructor.

  • CIS 248 - Visual Basic II: Desktop Applications - This course is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills to design, develop, and implement Visual Basic applications designed to run on individual computes or workstations.  This course helps prepare the student for the Microsoft Certified Professional Exam: Exam 70/176: Designing and Implementing Desktop Application with Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0. Lecture: 2 hours, Laboratory: 2 hours. Prereq: CIS 148 or consent of instructor.
     

  • CIS 249 - Java Programming II - This course is a continuation of CIS 149.  Students learn input and output streams, networking, advanced graphical user interface features, and the benefits of object oriented techniques such as encapsulation , inheritance, etc. Lecture: 2 hours, Laboratory: 2 hours. Prereq: CIS 149 or consent of instructor.

  • IT 132 - Web Page Development - Web Page Design using HTML will be introduced.  Creating web documents using a simple text editor will be the main focus.  How to use a simple web editor will also be covered.  Features such as layout, tables, images, forms, frames and the incorporation of sound and video will be explored.  Developing site specifications and methods to increase the appeal and effectiveness of web site are include. How to prepare web document appropriate for use in business and professional web sites will be covered. Prereq: CIS 100 or consent of instructor.
     

  • IT 170 - Introduction to Database Design - This course introduces the standards for designing relational databases.  Design criteria includes first, second, and third normal forms to eliminate modification anomalies.  Experiences include the creation of logical design and translation into a physical database using the relational model .  Interaction with the physical database will be conducted through a GUI and Query-by-example.  Lecture: 3 hours. Prereq: CIS 130 and the math component (MAH 125 or MA 109) or consent of instructor.

  • IT 237 - Help Desk Service Skills and Tools - Self-management and soft skills to provide help-desk customer service and support including processes and associated technologies in a technical or non-technical environment. Lecture 3 hours. Prereq: CIS 100 or consent of instructor.
     

  • NIS 152 - Introduction to Java Scripting - Students will code and execute JavaScript Programs.  Programs involve controlling the behavior of forms buttons, and text elements, and can be used to write special -purpose calculators or create forms whose fields have built-in error checking.  Lecture: 2 hours, Laboratory: 2 hours. Prereq: CIS 120, IT 132 or consent of instructor.

  • NIS 160 - Networking Core Technologies - This course is designed to provide a technical level of understanding in the area of networking connectivity, data communication concepts and communication protocols.  Communications and networking concepts including hardware, software, and transmission media; access methods and protocols; and network configuration are included. System design consideration are addressed. Prereq:ET 234 and (either ET 232 or CIS110) and (either CIS 130 or ET 107) or consent of instructor.

  • NIS 211 - Administering MS Windows  - This course provides students with  knowledge and skill necessary to install and configure MS Windows on stand-alone computer and on client computers that are part of a workgroup or domain.  This course help prepare for the MS Certified Professional Exam.  Lecture: 3 hours  Prereq: NIS 160 or IT 120 or IT 124 or Consent of Instructor
     

  • NIS 213 - Administering MS Windows Server - This course provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary to install and configure  MS Windows Server to work in a Workgroup or Domain environment and provide various services to organizations. This course helps prepare for MS Certified Professional Exams. Prereq: NIS 160 or IT 120 or IT 124 or Consent of Instructor

  • NIS 214 - Supporting Windows Network Infrastructure - This course provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary to be responsible for installing, configuring, managing and supporting a network infrastructure that uses MS Windows Server products.  This course helps prepare for MS Certified Professional Exams. Lecture: 2 hrs, Laboratory: 2 hrs. Prereq: NIS 213 or Consent of Instructor
     

  • NIS 216 - Implementing and Administering MS Windows Directory Services - This course provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary to install, configure, and administer MS Windows Active Directory.  This course helps prepare for MS Certified Professional Exams. Lecture: 2 hrs, Laboratory: 2 hrs. Prereq: NIS 214 or Consent of Instructor
