Using the ProQuest Databases
ProQuest consists of three different databases. You may search all three at the same time or choose which database(s) you want to use for your research.
How to Search ProQuest
1. Click on Databases from the library’s homepage at http://www.octc.kctcs.edu/library
2. Click on ProQuest databases.
3. To search only one of the databases, click on the down arrow in the box to the right of database: Click on the database of your choice.
4. Or, to search more than one database, choose select multiple databases to the right of the database box. Place a check mark in the box of the database or databases you wish to search. For example if you are a nursing student, you might check both Career and Technical and Nursing Journals.
5. Click continue.
6. You may limit to a certain date range, publication type, full-text only, and scholarly (peer reviewed) articles, etc.
7. With your Basic Search requirements in place, enter your search term(s) in the Basic Search box. If using more than one word, link them together with the word "and" or put them in quotation marks to search for them as a phrase. Click on the search key.
8. You may want to look at Suggested Topics to help you narrow your search. If not, scroll down to see your list of articles.
9. Click on Full text or text + graphic, to view the article.
10. To return to your list of articles, click on the "Back to Results" button.
