By making use of the Library’s reserves service, you are acknowledging that you have obtained copyright permission (if required) for placing item(s) on reserve. We will notify you via e-mail once your items have been processed and placed on reserve.

 NOTE: If an instructor owns the material(s) to be placed on reserve, the submitted request form will not be processed until materials are delivered to the library circulation desk.

The copyright law of the United States (Title 17, United States Code) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted material. Under certain conditions specified in the law, libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a photocopy or other reproduction. One of these specified conditions is that the photocopy or reproduction in not to be “used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship, or research.” If a user makes a request for, or later uses, a photocopy or reproduction for purposes in excess of “fair use”, that user may be liable for copyright infringement.

It is the instructor’s responsibility to obtain permission from copyright owners when needed for any photocopies supplied. For clarification of copyright laws beyond the policies stated for reserve, ask library personnel.
