Hello, I am Dr. Marsha Logsdon. I am an Owensboro, Daviess and McLean counties native.
I graduated from Daviess County High School. I grew up in the rural
community of Utica, about 11 miles south of Owensboro. I live on Windy
Hill Farm, which lies half in McLean county and half in Ohio county.
I attended Brescia University after I had worked at several
other jobs because I wanted more--intellectually and career-wise. I
had three small children, two sons (ages 8 and 7) and a daughter (age 2) and
worked part-time when I begin college. My husband worked away from
home a lot. At times it was difficult for all of us.
I could not have done it without his support. I carried a
book everywhere I went and sometimes missed social events because I had to
study. It took five years of day, night, and summer classes but I
graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration.
I worked in management and sales for three years, then went
back to Brescia and obtained my education certification to teach in business
and office-which is what I always wanted to do. I love teaching and
have never regretted the decision to make education my career.
Being in education required that I get my Master's degree,
then I achieved my Rank I from Western Kentucky University (WKU). When our
daughter started college at Western, I heard about the Joint Doctoral Program
with Western Kentucky and the University of Louisville. Guess what!
I started the doctoral degree program and graduated from the University of
Louisville with my PHD in Education in May 2003. Our daughter has since
graduated with her Bachelor's degree and Master's from WKU. She
teaches chemistry at Estill County High School. Her husband is the
Director of User Services at Berea College. Our eldest son works
for United Parcel Service (UPS). His wife is a radiology technician
and works for Dr. Jeremy Bradley. Our second son has his Bachelor's degree from Murray State University, his Master's
from Brescia University and is a manager for Miles Farm Supply in
Owensboro. His wife is a third-grade teacher at Sacramento Elementary
School. We have been blessed with four granddaughters and a
grandson.
