
- Be sure to attend the orientation meeting, where the instructor will
provide a course syllabus and review course requirements.
- Develop a regular schedule for viewing programs and completing reading and special
assignments. Avoid disruptions and distractions during the time you have reserved for
viewing and studying.
- Keep note-taking to a minimum while viewing the television programs.
- Complete the assigned reading before you view each television program.
- Contact the professor by telephone or e-mail for assistance if you have difficulty
understanding a unit of study.
- Make sure that you have access to all of the written material from the professor as well
as the textbook and study guide.
- Identify a study partner for each television course, or form a small study group of
three to five individuals.
- Check the schedule to find your telecourse broadcast times. If possible, record the
programs for later review.
- Review your textbook before reading. Review the table of contents, major chapter
headings and subheadings, and read the chapter summaries before you read the textbook
chapters.
