Title III is a grant funded by the U.S. Department of
Education. Created in 1965, it is also known as the, "Strengthening
Institutions Grant". It's primary purpose is to enable
colleges to improve their institutions.

- In August 2003, Owensboro Community and Technical College was
awarded $1.8 million in funds to be dispersed over a five year
period.
- OCTC's grant is divided into three areas: skills, retention, and
technology.
- The original grant outlined objectives and timelines for the
entire five year cycle.
- The specifics of these objectives and timelines can be modified
to some degree over the five year period.
- Each activity is guided by grant staff, a steering committee,
and OCTC's faculty and administration.
Mission Statement:
The mission of Title III "Strengthening Institutions" grant is to
support the mission and values of Owensboro Community and Technical
College by striving to increase student success through enrichment of
basic skills courses, utilization of computer-aided instruction in the
classroom, and implementation of retention intervention initiatives. |
