ENGLISH

The Teaching and Learning Center provides many services to aid students in English.  We provide free tutoring, as well as internet links, computer software, books, and videos.  Students can use these resources alone or with TLC staff to guide them.  In addition, many faculty members request their students come to the Center to work with tutors or resources.  Students who are brushing up on their skills for the COMPASS placement test are also welcome to use the TLC services.

One of our best internet based programs is SkillsTutor.  This program can be used on any computer with internet access.  Just come into the Teaching and Learning Center to receive a password and ID.

The following staff tutors are always available for English tutoring:
Director Judy Coomes and Instructional Specialist Jelaine McCamish.

The TLC does require that all CD-ROMs, videos, and books be used in the Center.  This action allows the resources to be available to all students at all times.  In addition, it allows the resources to be used as tutoring tools.  They are not available for checkout.

The Teaching and Learning Center is always looking for additional student aids.  If you know of applicable CD-ROMs, videos, cassettes, books, or internet sites, please feel free to recommend them to a staff member.
