Working in a Teaching and
Learning Center has been one of the most rewarding experiences
of my life. Assisting students with placement testing, answering
their questions about college, and providing tutoring provides me with
the opportunity to meet new people. Many students bring new fears,
questions, and anxieties about college life. Assuring students
that a higher degree is obtainable increases their self-esteem and
self-confidence, making a student's determination greater.
Not all students succeed at the same
pace. The Teaching and Learning Center provides competent academic
support to all students. There is no fee for this tutoring, nor is
an appointment needed. Qualified staff members and reliable tutors
are prepared to help all students in their struggle to achieve a
successful college career.

Not all colleges operate and support a
learning center. Owensboro
Community and Technical College's Teaching and Learning Center is
recognized in many communities as a model of academic support for its
students. Being a part of such an environment pleases me very
much. Knowing that many students have been successful because of
the support they received in the Teaching and Learning Center makes me
very proud of our staff and tutors.
